Last week marked the one-year anniversary for Ransom and Amelia Harrist. As you can see from the pictures, their day was flawless. But when you hear how we met, you’ll wonder how we lucked in to such a picture perfect wedding with an even more beautiful couple!

In April of 2016, I happened to be looking around on Craigslist (of all places!) to see if I could find a hidden gem in amongst all the requests full of misspelled words, grammatical errors, and amusing offers to pay in the form of toll reimbursement ????. Lo and behold, I found one request unlike all the others: a beautifully worded (and correctly spelled) request from a bride who seemed to really value great photography for her Big Day. As it turned out, Amelia and her now-husband, Ransom, were stationed with the Marines in North Carolina, with plans for a 4th-of-July weekend wedding on Ransom’s family’s lakefront property. As we spoke, it was clear this was a sweet and sincere couple with a beautiful support system around them, ready to celebrate their love for one another! After spending an hour over lunch with Amelia and her grandmother-in-law, I was hooked – these folks were the real deal. And thankfully, they were pretty hooked on the idea of having us shoot their wedding too!

t’s hard to believe it’s been a year since Ransom + Amelia’s magical summer evening out on Possum Kingdom Lake. We have been blessed to serve some of the most amazing couples over the years, and these two are a perfect example of that! Ending the day like all good 4th of July weekend weddings should… with fireworks!
