At Square 8 Studio we desire to leverage creativity to impact eternity. Part of how we do that is by using a portion of the revenue from each wedding we shoot to provide free and discounted photo and video services to people who are making a difference in the world. Today we are thrilled for this sweet couple’s beautiful journey to be our first ever free wedding film!
Three weeks away from getting married last October, Jonathan + Jennifer pushed the “pause” button on their plans of Forever Together.
In a world where no one is willing to wait for much of anything, the casual observer might scratch their head at two young lovers’ decision to wait on something as desirable as marriage. But for Jonathan + Jennifer, this decision wasn’t a head-scratcher at all… it was a decision full of wisdom, obedience, and trust.
“For us it was this crossroads of, ‘do we care about our marriage, or do we care about our wedding?'” Jennifer said. “We were so caught up in this idea and this dream that we weren’t really taking the time to fully grasp the decision that we were making… our whole worlds just crumbled down in front of us, and we thought, ‘we’ve got to do what we believe that God is calling us to do.”
So they pushed pause.
Three weeks away from wedding day.
It meant spending Thanksgiving not married.
Christmas? Not married.
New Year’s? Not married.
But God was working on Jonathan + Jennifer’s hearts in that season apart in powerful, miraculous ways… ways that would prepare them for the life ahead of them. And as the circumstances surrounding their postponed wedding last fall put a giant megaphone up to each of their hearts, the message that these two broadcast out was simple: JESUS IS GOOD. JESUS IS ENOUGH FOR ME. “The goal for us,” Jonathan told us, “is how do we live our lives with every moment leveraged for Jesus.”
In an absolutely breathtaking, intimate ceremony before a small gathering of family and friends, Jonathan + Jennifer entered in to a covenant with one another and God. It was a powerful ceremony that reflected the unique journey God had taken them on to lead them to this moment. “You may have taken the long road to get to this moment,” their pastor said, “but I think all of us in this room believe that you took God’s road to this moment. A road that was paved with truth, and a road that was paved with light, and a road that was paved with the gold of the grace of God.”
Weddings are expensive. Postponing a wedding is even more expensive, and services like videography are often what get lost in the process. When we first heard Jonathan + Jennifer’s story, we just knew theirs was a story that could not go untold.
We hope their story inspires and encourages you. Whatever season you’re in. Whatever big thing in your life you may be waiting for and hoping for. Wait on God’s timing. It’s worth it!
