Backyard Wedding Southern California Style
Backyard weddings have been all the rage in a COVID-ravaged 2020 wedding season, but until you’ve photographed a backyard wedding Southern California style you haven’t seen just how epic these weddings can really be!
I first met Sarah at one of the first weddings we ever shot, for her cousin Staci, 3 years ago! I could have never imagined that 3 years later I’d be reaching out to shoot her backyard wedding in Southern California!
Of course, Sarah and her husband, Matthew did not originally set out to have a backyard wedding. Like many couples in 2020, they had grand dreams for their Big Day, and were dealing with the heartache of changing plans on the fly.
Matthew and Sarah, though, are not like most couples. These two were deeply rooted in their faith in God, and determined to make their backyard wedding in Malibu magical!
Every square inch of the backyard of their family friend’s gorgeous estate served as a backdrop to the magic, hosting tables, chairs, and even a dance floor. A gorgeous collaboration between Village Florist and esteemed wedding planner Aimee Cook brought the ceremony space to life. And nearby parks and beaches made breathtaking views for sunset portraits (and more the next morning at sunrise!)
Matthew and Sarah, you two are gems. Your laid back, go-with-the-flow-but-make-it-awesome attitudes throughout the process were so refreshing! Your love for your family, faith in God, and your commitment to bringing joy to everything you do made for one heckuva a backyard wedding! Thank you for treating us like part of the family during our time together! We love you guys and can’t wait to see you soon!
