In a day and age where everyone tries to outdo each other on even something as trivial as a Homecoming invitation, this Fort Worth photographer believes the perfect proposal is something simple and timeless. Josiah’s proposal to his long-time girlfriend, Sydney, is proof!
When Josiah first reached out to me about a “10-15 minute photo shoot,” I could tell he was nervous. Something was up. I had only met Josiah this past spring for his senior pictures with his guys, but having been friends with Sydney for several years now, I knew they were pretty serious.
I had to ask:
I could not believe this moment had finally arrived for these two!!! Anyone who knows Syd knows that she is one of the most precious, kind-hearted, genuine people you will ever meet. They also know Syd has the most amazing and loving relationship with her father, Carr, and it was gonna take a really special man to win her heart.
Josiah is just the man for the job.
And he hit the jackpot with Sydney!
Josiah and I met up a few weeks out from his planned proposal date to map everything out… the perfect spot, with the perfect lighting, and the perfect scenery. He didn’t want a lot of pomp and circumstance. No friends and family around. Just something simple, beautiful, quiet, and private for the two of them to share the wonder of the moment together.
He planned the perfect Christmas date day for them to share together, part of which included surprising Sydney with a sunset photoshoot just before dinner. The spot even had cactus plants growing where we met up, the perfect tribute to Sydney’s Arizona roots!
The magic in the air was so thick you could cut it with a knife. Syd was glowing just being with her fav guy before she even knew what was coming!
They’re just. That. In. Love.
When we reached the waterfall where Josiah was going to propose, they closed their eyes. Josiah took a deep breath. Got down on one knee. Looked in his lover’s eyes. The surprise and delight on Sydney’s face was radiant.
He pulled out the ring.
Extended it in Sydney’s direction.
And asked her to be his wife.
After Sydney replied with what she described as “The EASIEST yes of my life!” They embraced. Kissed. Laughed. Cried. Kissed some more. Their gazes locked on each other like a tractor beam, pulling their hearts even closer together in this whirlwind, magical moment.
Josiah and Sydney, I can’t even begin to describe my excitement for the two of you. I’ve been grinning from ear to ear ever since I left y’all that evening, and fighting back all the happiest of tears going through these images. Congratulations… love y’all!!!
