In the age of smartphones and lower priced mirrorless cameras, one question I hear a lot from photographers is: “Why would a grad hire me, when their friend is offering to take their photos for cheap… or even free?” While it’s true that almost everyone has a camera in their pocket these days, and many college students are pursuing photography with DSLRs and Mirrorless cameras at hobby level, I’m a big believer that there are PLENTY of reasons why professional photography, especially in the college and sorority scene, remains irreplaceable.
